Monday Moods: “Good Vibe Tribe”

New seasonal classics and alternative takes on old favorites.

If you’re looking for some auditory gold to brighten your mood, look no further than our first Monday Mood for November. This collection is packed with positive vibrations and new tracks from some of the Golden State’s most exciting and emerging artists.

Weeknd collaborator Maty Noyes dropped her debut full-length, The Feeling’s Mutual, back at the beginning of September, and you know we had to feature “California Palms” in this week’s Mood. LA-based Mini Trees, the solo musical project of Lexi Vega, also released a debut album—Always In Motion via For Cover Records—in September, which we’ve had on repeat in the office. Vega is currently touring the album from now through the end of the year until she heads to Europe in 2022, so check her IG for dates and locations!

Also on tour is Baltimore-raised, Los Angeles-based musician mazie, who released her debut EP, the rainbow cassette, this summer via Good Boy/Virgin. Lauded by everyone from The New York Times to Flood, mazie’s psychedelic pop magic has to be both heard and seen, so make sure to check out the video for “spinnin’” here.

Rounding out our first 5-pack of November are California four-piece Sweet Nobody and AIR APPARENT, the project of Indian-American dance musician Neil Sethi. Name-checking influences like James Blake and Vampire Weekend, Sethi mixes electro-pop and indie to create a genre-bending electronic sound, while Sweet Nobody’s “Five Star Diary” flies high on an immaculate guitar tone that will have you reaching for those classic XTC albums.
